This week is focused on some of the business constructs useful in your code.

Most of the ideas from today’s show came from the following sources:

• Martin Fowler’s Money Class from Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture
• The IEEE Software article When to Make a Type, by Martin Fowler
• UPDATE: I found some sample code for a Money class, by some guy Jody Garnett (can’t find it on Google again, I’ll update it later I finally found it on archive.org)
• IBM’s BigDecimal implementation, their JSR, and it’s inclusion in JDK 1.5

Not only has Hibernate released a new stable version, but I really like the way their “Recent Site Upddates” table looks. It’s all tables and CSS, using mouse events to change the row colors. It’s compact, and pretty. I like it.

I think it would be really cool to have a set of personal analysis patterns
that I could choose from when creating applications. These could include
solutions I’ve found helpful for:

• Build systems
• Payment tracking
• Email generation
• Project management

They should be searchable, and perhaps include UML designs.
